PATNA: The Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) on Tuesday raided various locations of Sanjeev Ranjan, the general manager of Bihar Medical Services & Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (BMSICL), and found assets worth more than Rs 8 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Simultaneous searches were carried out at his office in Shastri Nagar, flat on Ashiana Digha Road and residence at Ramakrishna Nagar in Patna.
He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
SVU's additional director general Nayyar Hasnain Khan said one of the lockers of the accused will be opened on Wednesday.
"The disproportionate assets value is likely to increase as the investigation is still going at different locations. The accused also has a three-storey house worth Rs5 crore in Sheikhpura Ramdhanipur, which has a swimming pool with other luxuries. The house is well-decorated by spending several lakhs of rupees," he said.
The immovable property found in the possession of the accused included two land deeds of Bajitpur Barh and a flat in Dew Lush County Apartment, Friends Colony on Ashiana Digha Road in the name of his wife Suman Ranjan.
"Sanjeev purchased a residential plot in the name of his wife in Ramkrishna Nagar and constructed a grand house there in 2019-20. His wife also owns a flat in Samudra Soham in Bengaluru, Karnataka, which has been given on rent," an SVU officer said.
Sanjeev purchased a flat in his wife's name at Bariatu Housing Colony, Ranchi, and about 8.6 decimal land in Hamboi mauja of Ranchi.
He has about Rs50.5 lakh in his several bank accounts. Besides, he also spent a huge amount on purchase of life insurance policies of different companies.
According to officials, about Rs50,000 in cash was recovered from his office. Raids were going on till the time of going to the press.
