LUCKNOW: In a decisive push to investment by private players in UP, the state cabinet headed by chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday approved the scheme of providing financial incentive for establishment of data centres in the state. The measure was introduced in the UP Data Centre Policy-2021 which envisaged attracting firms to set up data centres all over the state, not just Noida.
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, minister Jitin Prasada said that the step will boost implementation of the scheme in cities other than Noida and Lucknow and help in generation of employment opportunities.

The work of setting up of four data centre parks with an investment of over Rs 15,950 crore is under process. These include NIDP Developers Pvt Ltd of Hiranandani Group with investment of Rs 9134.9 crore, NTT Global Centers and Cloud Infrastructure India Pvt Ltd of Japan with investment of Rs 1,687 crore and two projects of Rs 2,414 crore and Rs 2,713 crore each of Adani Enterprises Ltd. These will provide direct and indirect employment to more than 4,000 people. Hiranandani Group's first institute is expected to be ready in July and commercial work is likely to start in September.
The cabinet has decided to give necessary impetus to these projects, with the condition that the investment made under the policy period will be considered for permissibility of financial incentives and will be started during the policy period (5 years).
The cabinet also green flagged an ambitious scheme where the UP government will enter into an agreement with the ministry of road transport and ministry of railways for construction of railway overbridges (ROBs) and underpasses in the state. Prasada said that the scheme, primarily executed by the Centre, is expected to take up 300 spots where ROBs or underpasses are required to be constructed. The UP government will bear 10% of the total cost which would include utility shifting and land acquisition.

The cabinet cleared the proposal for setting up aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul hubs in the state. Under this policy, the state government would be providing investors with subsidies, including those in provisioning infrastructure facilities like power. In the first phase, such a hub is being planned to come up in Noida. Prasada said that the policy will benefit the state which was poised to get around 1,000 aircraft in the next four to five years. At present, the aircraft are being sent abroad for overhauling which incurs heavy expenditure.
Lending an impetus to the agricultural sector, the state government renewed adoption of the Centre's scheme to ramp up drip irrigation for the next five years. Under this, the government would be providing subsidies to the farmers to resort to drip irrigation.
In a bid to increase the green cover, the state cabinet approved the drive to plant 33 crore saplings across the state on July 5. The cabinet decided to implement the 'Swamitva' scheme entailing giving property rights to people in villages which got incorporated in the urban areas. The state cabinet also gave its nod to stepping up construction work of Nishadraj Park in Shringverpur Dham in Prayagraj.
