Printing of fake notes: Thane police arrest 25-year-old man, detain his accomplice

Police suspect that there could be more people involved in the racket and further probe is underway.
Thane: The Thane crime branch arrested a 25-year-old man and detained his 17-year-old accomplice for allegedly printing and circulating counterfeit currency notes in Mumbra.
Zaid Shaikh was arrested with 250 counterfeit notes of Rs 100 denomination and led the cops to the teenager.
The police said that acting on an information that some persons were to come near Y junction of Mumbra to dispose of the fake currency notes, the police in plain clothes, trapped the accused.

Upon questioning, the arrested accused led the police to the juvenile aged 17 who printed and supplied these notes to him.
The police team raided the residence of the juvenile and found a laptop, 91 counterfeit notes of Rs 100 having serial number as 3AT 511001, nine sheets of papers on which the currency notes of Rs 100 were printed and still be cut, cutter etc, from his residence.
"As he came to know about the raid, the juvenile dumped 15 uncut sheets of the Rs 500 counterfeit notes, 09 uncut sheets of Rs. 200 notes, 160 uncut sheets of Rs 100 notes in water which were also seized,” said the officer.
The police suspect that there could be more people involved in the racket and further probe is underway.
AN offence under sections 489 (A)(‘C)(D) and (‘E) and 201 and 34 of the IPC has been registered with the Mumbra police station, the official said.
