Hyderabad: Doctors boycott duties over stipend issues
HYDERABAD: Around 11 senior resident doctors at the Sarojini Devi Eye Institute (SDEI) boycotted elective duties on Tuesday over the issue of pending stipend money for the last seven months. The residents submitted a strike notice on Tuesday saying that the strike will be indefinite until their salaries are credited to their accounts.
“We have to take care of our families and children and we are not even having the basic means of survival.
Extended family and friends who offer money mock fun at our being a doctor saying they always thought doctors don’t struggle to make ends meet,” said a senior resident who wished to remain anonymous.
Meanwhile, 690 senior residents from 18 government medical colleges too are planning to boycott elective duties from June 29 along with protests over the issue of delay in payment of their stipend money.
Stipends have been pending for three to eight months . tnn
