Karnataka Issues Fresh Covid-19 Guidelines For Apartments, Offices After Spike In Cases

New Delhi: Karnataka government on Tuesday issued fresh Covid-19 guidelines for educational institutions, offices and apartments as the state sees a rise in cases. There has been a gradual rise in Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru since June 10. Hence the Technical Advisoty Committee (TAC), which is appointed by the state government recommended the health department issue fresh SOPs to contain the Covid-19 cases.

In the guidelines, the health department stated that in an apartment if there are three to five Covid-19 cases, it will be considered as a small cluster. For such clusters, all symptomatic patients on the floor should go through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). And in case of an outbreak where more than 15 cases are registered, all the symptomatic patients in the apartment complex should undergo RAT. Post which, people tested positive will be isolated, depending upon the medical condition of the patient, the type of isolation is decided.

Households with domestic helps, which have Covid-19 patients, should be extra careful and they should be vaccinated and should wear N-95 masks while working.

The apartment complexes with cluster/outbreak, should strictly enforce Covid Appropriate Behaviour in common areas. in such complexes, the facilities such as club house, gym, swimming pool, reading rooms, sports rooms, etc should be shut until the last Covid-19 patient in the complex tests negative.

Besides apartments, SOPs were issued to offices and educational institutions too. People with Covid symptoms shouldn't attend respective offices and educational institutions, mentioned the guidelines.

"After cluster/outbreak, the related office area/classroom from where the positive cases were reported shall be sanitised using 1% sodium hypochlorite solution. However, there is no need to close down the offices and colleges/educational institutions," the guidelines stated.
