WATCH: 17-year-old boy killed, mother injured after 'Maharashtra govt' registered car mows down two in Vasai

The victim, identified as Aman Parcha (17), succumbed to his injuries on Sunday (June 26) while the mother, Surekha Manoj Parcha, has been admitted to Global Hospital in Mumbai.

In a horrific incident recorded on CCTV, a 17-year-old boy was killed and his mother was gravely injured after they were mowed down by an inebriated driver in the Madhuban area in Vasai East on the night of June 23. The victims were on a scooter.

The victim, identified as Aman Parcha (17), succumbed to his injuries on Sunday (June 26) while his mother, Surekha Manoj Parcha, has been admitted to Global Hospital in Mumbai. Her condition is said to be critical.

According to Surekha's brother-in-law, the Innova car "No. MH01AV9432" is registered with the Maharashtra government.

The driver of the car, which was involved in the accident under the influence of alcohol, had a sign written “Government of Maharashtra Public Works Department”.

Following the incident, Vasai’s Waliv police rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle.

While the accused has not yet been identified or caught after fleeing from the scene, a case of drinking and driving under section 154 of CrPC has been registered with the Waliv Police Station, Vasai (E).

Further investigation is underway.
