The event marks the anniversary of the 1690 Battle of the Boyne.

In the largest individual event, around 4075 loyalists took part in the County Grand Orange Lodge of Glasgow main parade from George Square to Glasgow Green.

Police accompanied marchers playing instruments and waving banners and flags.

A number of traffic restrictions are in place across the city, with a total of 33 roads shut to traffic between 5am and 4pm.

Glasgow alone will see 75 separate Orange or loyalist walks throughout the entire marching season this year.

Marches will also take place on Saturday July 9, Saturday July 30,
Sunday August 7 and Saturday August 13.

We recently told how Scots Orange walks could be regulated in future as a Northern Ireland-style parade commission is being considered by a working group.

Academics and specialists are in talks and assessing models used in other countries in order to analyse and control potentially turbulent processions.

In September last year Nicola Sturgeon said her government would consider setting up a parade commission to rule on controversial marches.

The consideration of a parade commission model in Scotland follows unrest during parades, including Orange Walks, in recent years.
