Dr Pimple Popper, also known as Dr Sandra Lee, has tackled numerous issues as a dermatologist and in tonight's episode, which aired on July 20, she attempted to treat a severe case of psoriasis.

Johnnie, 62, of Tallahassee, Florida, suffers from psoriasis. He got it all the way from his ears to the soles of his feet. His skin is extremely dry, cracking, and itches constantly. His psoriasis began in 2002 with a pimple on his head, which he popped. He eventually went to see a nurse about it, and she prescribed him some medication that didn't work. In 2017, he went to see a dermatologist, who diagnosed him with psoriasis. He was also offered medication, which did not help him either.

He describes how his psoriasis makes it difficult for him to spend time with his daughter. This has also prevented him from working regularly since 2013. Now he works for a friend named John, who treats him well and provides him with work when he is most needed. He finally arrives in Upland, California in the hopes of a miracle from Dr Lee.

Dr Lee claims that Johnnie's case is the worst case of psoriasis she has ever seen. She notices pokes in his fingernails and plaques on his arms that are coated in white or greyscale, often known as the Micaceous Scale. Dr Lee diagnoses Plaque Psoriasis, which causes flaky skin, based on the skin condition all over his body. She says that every time she sees a psoriasis patient, she always checks their nail plates, which frequently contain pittings, which helps to confirm the diagnosis.

The doctor shares the one advantage of psoriasis: it is not contagious. However, it can still make him itchy and miserable and interfere with his well-being. Dr Lee prescribes an injection that can cure psoriasis internally, as opposed to the creams that Johnnie had previously been prescribed. The injections are intended to calm his t-cell system, or immune system, which is used to fight off illnesses. Ustekinumab is the drug that Dr Lee is administering to Johnnie. She hopes Johnnie would see a difference in a month or so and advises him not to discontinue the procedure because he will most likely revert to his previous state.

Dr Lee shows him how to inject himself with the drug, which he must do for several months. The medicine, according to the doctor, works very well with various plaque types of psoriasis. She also mentions that some injections are self-administered in the abdomen or thighs, where there is a cushion or small layer of fat to keep the needle from striking the bones. There is no certainty about the drugs, but Dr Lee expects Johnnie to improve in a few months.

He leaves the clinic full of optimism and confidence. Johnnie appears to have overcome his psoriasis two months after consulting with Dr Lee. His skin looks amazing and feels almost normal. He can now work more hours with fewer breaks and spend more time with his daughter, which is why he sought treatment.

'Dr Pimple Popper' Season 8 airs on TLC every Wednesday at 9 pm.
