In a statement given exclusively to Variety, “The Flash” actor Ezra Miller opened up about their troubling behavior and criminal allegations in recent years. Miller also revealed they’re seeking treatment for their “complex mental health issues.”
“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said in the statement. “I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”
Nevertheless, Miller’s erratic behavior has taken the spotlight away from the pending “The Flash” film. The actor first played Barry Allen/The Flash in 2017′s “Justice League” and in 2021′s “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”
Now Warner Bros. is weighing the fate of the upcoming superhero epic, due to Miller’s endless criminal allegations, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie studio has come under scrutiny for canceling the “Batgirl” starring Latinx actress Leslie Grace while keeping “The Flash” alive, a film with a white lead who has faced countless controversies and allegations of erratic behavior and abuse.
Miller was most recently charged with felony burglary in Vermont. This comes after the actor came under fire in 2020 for a viral video showing them choking a woman outside of a bar in Iceland. Though no charges were filed.
Miller was also charged for two separate incidents in Hawaii. A harassment charge was dropped. “The Flash” is expected to drop on Friday, June 23, 2023, which is a $200 million project produced by Warner Bros. The film is reportedly expected to set up future DC Extended Universe projects. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are expected to return as Batman variants.
