HUDSONVILLE, MI -- One person died and four others were injured in a collision between an SUV and gravel truck near Hudsonville, police said.
The person who died was described as a juvenile and was a passenger in a Jeep, police said.
Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said the Jeep was driven by a 17-year-old from Wyoming, with four juvenile passengers. Police did not release the ages of the passengers.
Deputies said the Jeep was going west on Jackson Street about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 when the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at 22nd Avenue. The Jeep pulled into the path of the gravel truck, police said.
The area is just southwest of the I-196 and M-6 interchange.
In addition to the fatality, police said everyone else in the Jeep was injured. The conditions of those injured ranged from serious to critical.
The gravel truck driver, a 62-year-old Byron Center man, was not hurt.
