Actor Jack Fox has reprised his role as Sir Edward Denham for the second series of ITV period drama Sanditon. Inspired by Jane Austen's unfinished novel of the same name, the plot follows heroine Charlotte Heywood who is set for more romantic adventures.

Jack plays Edward, a handsome sycophant who has an eye for women and extravagance. Season 1 saw him dead set on getting his hands on Lady Denham’s fortune. In season 2, devious Edward is known for his charm with the ladies and extravagant spending.

But away from the screen Jack Fox is worlds away from Edward, and is no stranger to starring in television series. So let's take a look at Jack's famous relatives and prolific acting credits.

Jack Fox made his acting debut alongside his father

Jack is a face we all recognise from our TV screens as Nico Eltham from the hit series Riviera, Ralph in Fresh Meat, and Alastair Harvey in Dracula, and even appeared in a recent episode of Midsomer Murders. The 36-year-old, who recently starred BBC series Cheaters, first made his on-screen debut in 2009, playing Perkin Warbeck in TV mini series Henry VIII: Mind of a Tyrant. Since then, he’s made quite the impact in the various roles he has been cast in.

But when somebody comes from such a talented family, their success comes as no surprise. This is the case with Jack, whose family includes a number of actors, producers and TV personalities. First of all, Jack is the son of James Fox, who starred in a number of films in the 60s and 70s, including King Rat, The Servant, The Chase, Isadora, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Performance.

Jack is also the brother of Laurence Fox, who from 2006 till 2015 was cast as DS James Hathaway in the ITV drama series Lewis. He also played Lord Palmerston in the ITV series Victoria.

But off-screen, Laurence is known for his often controversial right-wing political views. He was criticised for comments he made against the NHS in relation to their handling of the Covid pandemic during an interview on Good Morning Britain, in which he said "if the NHS can't cope, then the NHS isn't fit for purpose".

Between 2007 and 2016, Laurence was married to actress and singer Billie Piper, which would make her Jack’s sister-in-law. Jack’s biological sister Lydia is also an actress who has acted in movies including Submarine, The Double, and The Souvenir.

Meanwhile, Jack also has two famous uncles. Robert Fox is a well-respected theatre and film producer who was behind the 2002 film The Hours, while Edward Fox is also a popular actor from the 60s and 70s. Through his uncle Edward, Jack is first cousins with actor and voice artist Freddie Fox, and actress Emilia Fox.

Fittingly, Jack also has a celebrity dating past. In 2011, he met West End actress Lily James, who Downton Abbey fans would know as Lady Rose MacClare. She has also taken roles in War & Peace, The Pursuit of Love, and her latest endeavor playing Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy.

Jack and Lily dated for a year before calling it quits. After their break up, Lily entered another relationship with actor Matt Smith, who played Prince Phillip in the Netflix series The Crown. They dated for five years between 2014 and 2019.

Sanditon airs Friday on ITV at 9pm
