    Raju Srivastava continues to be on life support, health critical; comedian's daughter says doctors are still treating him

    Popular comedian-actor Raju Srivastava, who was rushed to AIIMS in New Delhi on August 10, continues to be on the ventilator. The 58-year-old, who is in the intensive care unite of the hospital, remains critical, PTI reported quoting sources.

    The stand-up comic underwent an angioplasty same day he was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following a heart attack.

    "He continues to be on life support and his health condition is critical. He has suffered brain damage. He has not yet gained consciousness," a source told PTI.

    As the comedian's fans worry about his health and look for updates, his daughter Antara told PTI that "doctors are still treating him". She said she would not be able to comment further.

    Meanwhile, comedian Sunil Pal on Thursday evening shared a health report about Srivastava, revealing that the ailing comedian's brain has stopped working.

    Talking to ETimes, the comedian, who is in touch with Srivastava's family, confirmed that the 58-year-old is only breathing, but his body isn't working. "I just spoke to Raju's nephew Kushal a while back and I have got to know that Raju's brain is not functioning. Doctors are trying their best and everyone is praying for him," he was quoted as saying.

    Last week, Srivastava's family released a statement on his official Instagram page, saying his condition was "stable" and requesting people to "ignore any rumour/fake news being circulated".

    A familiar face in the entertainment industry since the 1980s, Srivastava catapulted to fame after participating in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' in 2005.
