Brabus are one of the kings of performance modifications. The German based company is perhaps most famous for its creations regarding Mercedes-Benz machines. This is the brand in which the tuning giant has become most synonymous with. Brabus have modified everything from station wagons, to G-Wagens and more. Even a classic Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing has become a focal point for the Brabus team. Their latest creation is no less exciting as they take on the G-Wagen once again.

This is the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition “One of Ten”. As the name might suggest, the P 900 is a limited edition Brabus creation that is set to hit the road very soon and based upon the Mercedes-AMG G63. Brabus have taken the G63 and turned it into a high-performance German pickup truck with amazing detail and incredible power under the hood. It’s a pickup truck that can rival the power levels of some of the best out there including the Ford F-150 Raptor and the Raptor Bronco. It offers the best of Brabus both on the outside, and on the inside too.

When it comes to the power of the pickup truck, Brabus are not being subtle about it. What the team have given this truck is a 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, with specially developed turbochargers for the P 900. That gives the truck a staggering horsepower figure of 900 hp, which they say guarantees it the best in performance engineering as well as power delivery. That is a bold claim indeed, but one that most Brabus products can usually back up. The engine also provides a huge 1,250 nm of torque.

That power is all handled through a nine-speed automatic transmission, which has the option to be either shifted manually or automatically. The top speed of the P 900 is a pretty dizzying 280 kmh, or 174 mph. The engine setup is complete with the stainless steel Brabus high-performance exhaust system. This also features full carbon tailpipe trims, actively controlled valves and integrated rocket launch ambience lighting. These provide the right acoustics say the company while also helping to perfect the power delivery of the V8 engine thanks to reducing the exhaust back pressure. There is also the option to switch between a throaty V8 sound or a more quiet whisper in “Coming Home” mode.

Brabus don’t just focus on the performance side of the performance side of their cars. Brabus wanted to expand and enhance their signature Rocket Design language. Part of the exterior design is the Brabus Rocket Edition Widestar exterior concept, which the brand says is now underscored with both a load of returning features as well as some brand-new ones as well. The front fascia for example features inserts and a front spoiler made from pepreg exposed carbon fiber, while they also feature the striking “Rocket Red” side flaps.

We can also see the Rocket Launch ambience lighting that is fully integrated into the carbon front grille of the P 900, helping to give the truck a distinct and aggressive face. They have certainly achieved that. A new feature is the PowerView hood, that Brabus have designed, so we can get a good look at the V8 engine that sits within the car. We also get a Brabus rear diffuser, carbon fender flares that are now upgraded and accentuating side flaps on the rear diffuser itself. This all rounds off the great appearance of the Brabus.
