With the used car market still seeing more volatile changes than cryptocurrency, finding an affordable weekend cruiser can be a frustrating affair — especially if you had your eyes set on a '90s sports car on the precipice of bottoming out.

However, those willing to forgo the hardtop in favor of a convertible or "vert," can find themselves in a buyer's market with a lot of different options to choose from.

Luckily, the automotive journalists over at The Fast Lane Car On YouTube narrowed down the four best by region, electing to test the ability of these 20-something-year-old convertibles to inform its viewers which is the best '90s sports car of all time.

A Test To Find The Best 90s Convertible

In a series dubbed "Stud to Dud," four journalists from TFL Car received the opportunity to select their car based on the country they received — which included: America, Germany, Japan, and Great Britain.

Now in episode four, as it stands, the current leader is a Ford Mustang SN95, followed by a Jaguar XK, Mercedes-Benz 500 SL, and a Nissan 300zx Z32 bringing up the rear.

With today's challenge pitting these four against each other on the racetrack, TFL Car will soon find out which of these '90s convertibles are the quickest.

With a benchmark of 1:08, set by a modern-day Toyota Camry TRD edition, the guys of TFL Car will have their hands fulls trying to compete with the now-300 horsepower family saloon.

As you may have already guessed, these four cars didn't stand a chance to better modern-day technology, coming with the closest time of 1:16 — but the team did manage to prove one thing.

Although finishing miles behind the Camry, these older and slower sports cars provided the visceral experience car enthusiasts cherish, over the bland experience the Toyota offers.

But even though all four would be worth owning, the winner from these four episodes proved to be the Ford Mustang after nearly walking away in the points standings.

Fortunately for us viewers, after crowning the victor of the competition, TFL Car reveals there will be a bonus episode where the guys put on their best 'shady car salesman' hat and create an advertisement explaining why they still feel their car is the best, regardless of what the numbers say.
