STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Spooky season is right around the corner, and viewers are gearing up to watch the Halloween classics that leave them with goosebumps.

This Halloween, members at US Dish set out to find which spooky children’s movies each state’s residents still love. To identify each state’s most-Googled spooky movie for kids, the team gathered a list of kids’ Halloween movies rated PG or G, used an SEO firm to find the movies that had the highest keyword search ranking, and then input the movie titles into Google Trends to find each state’s most searched movie.

So which movie is the most popular among kids in New York, according to the research? It’s “Coraline,” a film about a young girl who discovers an idealized universe that exists within her universe. In fact, the movie is the most searched kids’ movie in 11 states.

And coming in as the most-searched movie in 13 states is “Scooby-Doo.” The film is based on the animated TV series of the same name about a group of four young adults and a talking dog who solve mysteries.

In Texas -- the state known for its vibrant music culture -- “Coco” is the most popular kids’ Halloween movie. The animated film is about a young boy who seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his loved ones among the living and to reverse his family’s ban on music.

“Halloweentown” is Oregon’s top spooky kids’ movie -- which is fitting, since the movie was filmed in St. Helens.
