Hollywood actor John Cusack last Friday tweeted about Rahul Gandhi’s 'Bharat Jodo' Yatra, extending support to the Congress leader. And, now he is being massively trolled for it. Let's first look at what happened in depth.

The actor took to Twitter and wrote, "Indian parliament member Rahul Gandhi is walking to Kashmir - from Kerala." After a user thanked the actor for his support to Rahul's campaign, the 56-year-old also responded and said: “Yes - solidarity - to all anti-fascists everywhere!"

 Here's his tweet:

A handle of ‘INC Chairman, Tamil Nadu’ clarified that Rahul “actually… started from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. Now he is walking in Kerala”.

Cusack had earlier extended support to the farmers' protest and the protest against Citizenship Amendment Act in India. His tweet on Rahul's yatra had gone viral clocking more than 21,000 likes and over 4,400 retweets.

Cusack trolled on Twitter

Enraged by Cusack’s support for Gandhis, BJP supporters had taken to Twitter to attack the Hollywood actor.

One Twitter user, Bharat, wrote, “When other avenues of income dry up, look for paid promotion opportunities as an alternate career? Rihanna got a few millions. Wonder who’s funding the bill this time?”

Another user, The Poll Lady, commented, “John, Indians stop giving a damn about opinion of actors/actresses some while ago, maybe you didn’t get the memo. Hope you minted good money from Rahul Gandhi for this endorsement tweet.”

Take a look at some more tweets:

'Bharat Jodo' yatra

The 3,500-km long 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from Kanyakumari to Kashmir will be completed in 150 days and cover as many as 12 states. From Kerala, the Yatra will traverse through the state for the next 18 days, reaching Karnataka on September 30. It will be in Karnataka for 21 days before moving north. The Padyatra (march) will cover a distance of 25 km every day.

Crisis in Congress

This comes as the election for the new party president is scheduled to be held. Congress' presidential election will be held on October 17 and the election results would be declared on October 19.

The Congress in Rajasthan ended up into a crisis Sunday as 90 MLAs loyal to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot submitted their resignation to Rajasthan Assembly Speaker C P Joshi over a possible move to appoint Sachin Pilot as the next CM.

Following which, CM Gehlot has been ruled out as Congress president candidate. He is against Sachin Pilot taking over and hence, the resignation of the MLAs is likely a signal that he wants to continue as Chief Minister till he is elected Congress president.

Coming back to John Cusack, he is a celebrated actor popularly known for his work in films like 'Serendipity', 'Con Air', '2012', and 'High Fidelity'. He is also known to be quite vocal about global issues on social media.
