The Ford Super Duty is one of the best-selling vehicles in the Ford range. The Super Duty range is of course a series of heavy-duty pickups, and are an expansion on the main trucks within the Ford range like the F-250 and the F-550. The fourth generation of the truck is at the moment the current generation, and it was first presented to the world back in 2016. However, it's now become a bit dated, but things are about to change for the truck. The Super Duty underwent a bit of a refresh back in 2020 but for the 2024 model year, we are getting an entirely new model of the Super Duty. This will be the fifth generation, with a refreshed exterior appearance and new internals, more luxury within the cabin and overall, it will be a massive overhaul on the previous generation of the truck. The reveal is coming up very soon, so we will soon know everything about the truck. Prior to that, this is everything we know about the upcoming new version of the Ford Super Duty.

What We Know About The Super Duty’s Exterior

Spy shots have revealed some of the changes we can expect to see from the exterior of the new pickup truck. Thanks to the 2020 refresh, the Super Duty looks to get just modest aesthetic improvements, bringing it more in line with the current overall range of Ford pickup trucks. The front fascia will have a few updates, such as a new headlight design and a more rugged looking grille as well plus a lot more bulk around the bottom. The Super Duty also looks like it is getting an entirely new wheel design for 2024.

While the changes to the exterior aren’t major, they do refresh the design that was first introduced in the 2020 refresh. The front fascia is where the biggest changes lie with the new headlight design and the updated grille. A lot of the truck has been under camouflage wrapping, so it's been tricky to really gauge what the rest of the changes to the body design and in particular the back are like. Although we can see from some of the spy images a new taillight design, but we don’t have long to wait before the full design is finally unveiled.

When it comes to what we know about the rest of the truck, there are a few things. We know what the trim levels are set to be, these are going to be XL, XLT, King Ranch and the Platinum models. To help differentiate between the various trim levels, Ford are likely to offer different grille and wheel designs as well as different lighting options. This will allow for each trim level to be easily identifiable. The powertrain is where most of the interest perhaps lies with the upcoming truck.

Even at this late stage, it remains a bit of a mystery as to what the powertrain of the Super Duty. However, there has been speculation that Ford are going to introduce a new V8 engine to the pickup truck. Specifically, this will be a 6.8-liter V8 engine, with the current iteration having the 7.3-liter Godzilla V8, 6.2-liter Boss V8 and the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8. This might even become an engine that ends up in the next-generation of the Ford Mustang. The 6.8-liter V8 should be complemented by the Godzilla and the Power Stroke diesel engines.

While we have seen plenty of outside spy shots, none have been forthcoming of the interior. However, the word on the street is that a massive refresh is coming for the interior. Something you would naturally expect. A center screen of around 12 inches could be featured, with no doubt higher trims offering more features like a digital dash. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are expected to feature, with perhaps a few other luxury offerings from within Ford itself. The interior is certainly an intriguing talking point for the Super Duty.

While the 2020 refresh did help the pickup truck, this new model is very much badly needed for the model. The current Super Duty is certainly showing its age, and it desperately needed updating to keep up with the rest of the Ford pickup range. These changes and updates should provide a solid platform for the Super Duty for quite a few years to come. The full reveal of the Super Duty is on September 27th, so there really is not long to find out what exactly Ford has in store for us here. The powertrain and interior may well be the biggest talking points. Thankfully Everything will be revealed tomorrow.
