There are not enough women working at Apple and in the technology industry as a whole, the company’s chief executive has said.

Tim Cook said that there were “no good excuses” for the lack of gender equality in the sector, which has long battled a male-dominated culture.

“I think things are better than they were. Yes. We [Apple] have clearly made advancements . . . so there are definitely more women with a seat at the table now. But not enough . . . I would say the tech industry itself definitely doesn’t have enough,” Cook told the BBC.
