Scottish technology start-ups have warned that Brexit has slowed their growth and they are struggling to find enough skilled staff.

About 89 per cent of respondents to the annual Scottish Startup Survey expressed concern about the global economic outlook.

While 88 per cent indicated they had grown so far this year, there were 68 per cent who said the UK’s exit from the EU had held them back.

Skills shortages continue to be a problem with 69 per cent stating they have found it difficult to recruit over the past 12 months, with engineers and developers the most difficult to find.

The companies are increasingly outward looking in their search for funds with 88 per cent intending to go beyond Scotland to access capital. London
