A retired teacher distributing videos and pictures of children being raped and a gunman shooting fire at youngsters playing in a tree are among the criminals to be jailed.

In addition, the gang who attacked Danny Humble after making jibes about him looking like Ant and Dec have also been caged.

Here is an overview of some of the people who have been jailed across the North East in September 2022.

Callum MacGregor

Callum MacGregor, jailed for failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements

This vile child sex offender who abused a three-year-old has been sent back to prison for failing to comply with conditions designed to keep the public safe.

Callum MacGregor was locked up in 2015 for sexually assaulting and inciting the young child into sexual activity, along with indecent images offences. As well as the four-year prison sentence, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and given a sexual offences prevention order.

One of the requirements was that he was to register with the police annually so they could keep track of him. But he failed to do so and so was arrested for failing to comply with his notification requirements.

Now the 25-year-old, of Claremont Terrace, Sunderland, has been jailed for ten months at Newcastle Crown Court for the offence and for being in breach of a suspended prison sentence.

Cain Lebihan

This thug bit a police officer during his arrest and then went on to smash car windows with a hammer and punch his sister.

Cain Lebihan became aggressive towards officers when they turned up to a YMCA in Sunderland to arrest him on January 26 this year. The 21-year-old, who was wanted on a warrant, resisted arrest and ended up biting an officer's finger, drawing blood in the process.

Lebihan's offending continued into July this year, when he breached restraining orders and a suspended sentence by turning up to his mum's home and demanding help - despite being banned from being near her. When she refused, he began to cause damage to cars with a hammer before punching his sister in the head.

Lebihan, of no fixed address, was jailed for 22 months for assaulting an emergency worker, breach of a suspended sentence, breaching a restraining order, criminal damage, assault and a public order offence.

Jack Murray

A man who was receiving hospital treatment after being stabbed has been jailed after police found a lock knife in his bag.

Jack Murray was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary after being stabbed in South Shields on May 29 this year. But after receiving treatment, police officers searched his bag and found a lock knife inside. The 21-year-old, who refused to identify his attacker, was then arrested.

Murray, of Hexham Avenue, Hebburn, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday to be sentenced for possession of an offensive weapon. He had pleaded guilty to the charge at a previous hearing.

Sentencing Murray, Recorder David Gordon said he committed the offences whilst serving a community order and handed him a 146 day prison sentence.

Graeme Park

Graeme Park broke into a Newcastle BrewDog bar and stole over £1,000 worth of booze before committing more offences.

Park broke into the popular Dean Street bar in the early hours of January 7 this year and made off with £1,200 worth of alcohol. Months later, the 43-year-old went on to buy £100 worth of booze with a stolen bank card and then attempted to burgle a home in Gateshead. After being caught and admitting the offences, Park failed to turn up to court for sentencing on two occasions.

Park, of Bedale Court, Harlow Green, Gateshead, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court to be sentenced for burglary, attempted burglary, fraud, allowing himself to be carried in a stolen vehicle, and two counts of failing to surrender. He had pleaded guilty to the charges at a previous hearing.

Recorder Mark Giuliani said Park must be at the age where "he needs to break the cycle" and said he has an "appalling record for inquisitive crime". He jailed Park for 14 months.

Jansen McDonald

Jansen McDonald, from Wigan, who has been jailed after police operation led to seizure of £5m worth of cocaine in Northumbria.

This drug dealer has been jailed for his part in nationwide drugs conspiracy ring.

Jansen McDonald, 51, was jailed for 12 years for his role in a large criminal enterprise operating across the country.

On July 12, Northumbria Police officers, assisted by Nottinghamshire Police and South Yorkshire Police, carried out a tactical stop of his vehicle, on the A1 near Doncaster.

Searching the vehicle, officers found a meat cleaver and 50kg of suspected cocaine inside – which had the potential street value of up to five million pounds.

McDonald was arrested and charged.

On August 11, McDonald appeared at Newcastle Crown Court and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

On September 2 he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Gary Boughton

Gary Boughton, jailed for cocaine dealing

This dealer caught with bags of cocaine in his car just metres from his at work.

Former Sunderland Football Club shop worker Gary Boughton turned to selling the class A drugs to ease his financial worries. He was just 200m from work in his Vauxhall Astra when police pulled him over on the outskirts of Newcastle city centre at 8.25am on November 5 last year.

When informed his car would be searched for drugs, he told police they would find some in a compartment under the steering wheel. Having recovered 19 wraps of cocaine, weighing 7g, he was told his home would be searched and he again told officers where they would find more narcotics. One package of cocaine weighing 30.5g was seized, along with 18 deals weighing 6.5g.

Boughton, 40, of Denbigh Avenue, Sunderland, who has no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply and was jailed for 28 months at Newcastle Crown Court.

Benjamin Hawkins

Benjamin Hawkins, jailed for attacking his neighbour

This violent thug left his neighbour with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain by smashing him on the head with a piece of wood.

Benjamin Hawkins and Neil Davidson had been neighbours in Heaton, Newcastle, for many years and in the early hours of July 17 last year Mr Davidson got a phone call from Hawkins asking him to do him a favour. He agreed but when he tried to call him back, he didn't answer so he decided to walk to his home.

He heard voices inside but his knocks were not answered so he tried the door handle and it was unlocked and he went in. Prosecutor Neil Pallister told Newcastle Crown Court : "When the defendant saw him he became aggressive and began shouting at him.

"Mr Davidson admitted he punched the defendant once in the face and the defendant punched him multiple times in the face. They ended up rolling on the floor and the defendant then bit Mr Davidson's right ear and Mr Davidson bit the defendant's finger. The defendant said 'let my finger go and I will let you out' and he did. "

Mr Davidson went to a friend's home for a while before heading home and on his way an associate of Hawkins drove at him a number of times before telling Hawkins he had seen him. Mr Davidson then saw Hawkins walking towards him and he lifted a piece of wood above his head and swung it down, hitting him on the head.

The victim suffered a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, fractures to his cheekbone and eye socket and a wound to his scalp. Mr Davidson said in a victim impact statement: "This incident has left me feeling very vulnerable. I was already blind in one eye before this and this assault left me with blurry vision in my other eye.

"It's left me with devastating injuries. It makes it worse the perpetrator is someone I've known for a long time.

"I've had to live with my mother because of how close I live to him. I will have to move from the home I've lived at for 17 years. This has made me feel anxious and afraid to return to my own home."

Hawkins, 26, of Acton Place, Heaton, who has 22 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to GBH with intent and was jailed for 39 months by Judge Stephen Earl. He was also given a restraining order.

Robert Farrow

Robert Farrow, jailed for breaching his sexual harm prevention order
Robert Farrow, jailed for breaching his sexual harm prevention order

Pervert Robert Farrow was caught with a child in his home after being released from prison on licence.

Farrow was released from an eight-and-a-half year jail term last year, with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and strict conditions in place, designed to keep him away from children. But Newcastle Crown Court heard in May this year police went to his home after a tip-off and found a teenage girl there with him.

The 29-year-old, of Milling Court, Gateshead, admitted breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and has been jailed for ten months.

Anthony Larcombe

Anthony Larcombe, jailed for distributing indecent images

This retired teacher distributed "vile and abhorrent" videos and pictures of very young children being raped.

Anthony Larcombe thought he was sharing the disgusting material with a single mother of a young girl but in fact he was being ensnared by an undercover police officer. Using a pseudonym, he revealed his distorted interest, saying "I'm in my 60s but it doesn't stop me fantasising about under 12s".

He then sent a series of videos and photographs, including a two-year-old girl being abused and wrote "baby is the best age to start, I'm absolutely convinced of it". Larcombe also claimed to have been in touch with a nine-year-old Russian girl who had sent him indecent images.

The officer became suspicious about his identity due to facts he revealed about being in trouble previously. In fact he had been arrested in 2015 at an airport after travelling to meet a woman to "play with her boys". He was later jailed in relation to that for four years for distributing indecent images and arranging or facilitating a child sex offence.

In relation to the latest offences, the 69-year-old former English teacher pleaded guilty to distributing more than 1,500 indecent images. At Newcastle Crown Court, he was jailed for three years and four months with an extended licence period of a further six years and eight months.

Judge Julie Clemitson told him: "These offences are rightly described as vile and abhorrent by your counsel. You expressed some distorted and abhorrent views about children.

"The images sent included babies and toddlers, some of whom were being subjected to rape and bestiality. Some showed the child crying or in distress. It makes it all the more alarming and difficult to understand why anyone would think any child was enjoying that encounter.

"You said babies were the best age to start and you expressed regret over the arrest of a woman who had created paedophilic images. You were involved with an online community of paedophiles who distribute and share images.

"You repeated some of your warped ideas about children to the probation officer and don't appear to recognise the terrible psychological harm the children in those images suffer. The harm can be extraordinarily grave, exacerbated by the knowledge paedophiles all around the world might be looking at the images of their abuse and that the images may stay out there indefinitely."

Judge Clemitson said that Larcombe, of Calle Fabrica, Palma De Mallorca, believed the authorities in Spain, where he was living, were not monitoring him in the same way as in the UK, which she said needed to be rectified in future. He was arrested upon returning to the UK.

Adrian Cartwright

Adrian Cartwright, jailed after being caught by paedophile hunters

This pervert who tried to meet two schoolgirls for sexual activity on the same day has been jailed after thanking vigilantes for catching him.

Adrian Cartwright, who has previous for preying on young girls, made contact with what he thought were two 15-year-olds online and engaged in sexual chat and arranged to meet them. In fact he had been talking to decoy profiles set up by paedophile hunters Guardians of the North.

Using the moniker "Top dad", Cartwright communicated with both profiles online in October 2019. Within five messages to the first "girl" he had sent a picture of his penis and requested images of her "wearing less clothing". He also suggested she perform a sex act on him, asked about school uniform and underwear and talked about her sexual body parts.

Newcastle Crown Court heard he arranged to meet her at 4.30pm on October 11 at a car park in Birtley and requested that she didn't wear underwear.

He engaged in a similar chat with the second profile, saying he wanted regular meet ups, asking about her sexual experience and sending her pictures and asking for images of her. He arranged to meet her on October 11 at 11pm at an Asda and suggested they engage in sexual activity at an industrial estate.

Prosecutor Paul Cleasby said: "The prosecution say it's obvious he intended to meet two children on the same evening for the purpose of sexual activity. It's clear he intended to meet the children as he attended the first meeting when both decoys were present.

"The decoys, with other members of Guardians of the North, tried to block his vehicle in the car park but he mounted a grass verge and drove off at speed. He was briefly followed by Guardians of the North but due to his driving they abandoned any pursuit after seeing him drive through a red light and drive at speed on the wrong side of the road in a 20mph residential zone."

Police were contacted and he was arrested at his home a short time later. He appeared out of breath and claimed he didn't know why officers were there.

Cartwright, 52, of Ollerton Gardens, Felling, Gateshead, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and two counts of attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming. Judge Stephen Earl jailed him for 28 months and his lifelong sex offender registration and indefinite sexual harm prevention order continue to be in force.

The court heard he was convicted of eight offences of sexual activity in 2007 in relation to two 14-year-olds. He was given a suspended sentence for that.

William Dolan

William Dolan, jailed for 32 years for abusing children

This sick paedophile ruined the lives of three children by subjecting them to vile sexual abuse.

William Dolan targeted one girl when she was just three years old and also abused a boy when he was under 10 and a teenage schoolgirl. After years of getting away with it, the pervert has finally been brought to justice after jurors at Newcastle Crown Court found him guilty of a serious of crimes.

One victim who was just three at the time said in an impact statement: "The sexual abuse I suffered as a child has affected me severely. No child should go through what I did when I was a toddler.

"He has ruined my life, it's been a living nightmare. Your childhood is supposed to be the happiest time in your life but mine was torture. I felt ashamed and dirty."

The 56-year-old now of Stewarton Street, Wishaw, Glasgow, was found guilty of one count of rape and six of indecent assault, which happened in Newcastle. Daniel Gluckstad, jailed for rape and burglary

This brute raped a woman just hours after she had suffered a miscarriage. .

Daniel Gluckstad left the victim deeply traumatised after the horrific attack. He denied rape and a separate charge of burglary but was found guilty by a jury.

As the 37-year-old was locked up at Newcastle Crown Court, the effect on the rape victim was outlined by prosecutor Lee Fish. He said: "She can't stop thinking about what happened to her. She says she has been having bad dreams and is struggling to manage the stress she's had with it all.

"She feels better that the defendant will not be able to hurt her in future but she remains frightened about the fact he will be released one day. She's worried he will come after her."

Gluckstad, 37, of Gardner Place, North Shields, has previous convictions including robbery, attempted robbery, racially aggravated harassment and battery.

A pre-sentence report said he poses a high risk of harm. As well as the 10-year sentence for the rape and burglary, of which he must serve two-thirds in prison, he must sign the sex offenders register for life and was made subject to a restraining order for 15 years.

Lee Ormston and Ryan Hodgson

This violent pair were jailed after a man was stabbed three times, following a pursuit across Newcastle’s West End.

Newcastle Crown Court was told how back in January 2021, Ormston armed himself with two knives and Hodgson a baseball bat, before coming to blows with their victim on Ladykirk Road.

The victim, who was known to the offenders, tried to flee when he saw the pair coming for him, but he was chased.

He was later caught by Ormston who stabbed him in the leg, buttocks and chest in front of a group of onlookers before fleeing.

Ruhel Miah

Ruhel Miah, jailed for shooting a blank pistol towards young children

Children playing in a tree were left terrified for their lives when this gunman annoyed by their presence opened fire on them.

A small group, aged between nine and 11, were playing in a fallen tree near the bottom of Ruhel Miah's garden in Fenham, Newcastle. A court heard he had suffered issues with other children who had burned his fence.

He shouted at the youngsters to get down from a fallen tree but as they did so he fired what turned out to be a blank starter pistol towards them twice, causing them to run off in terror. Armed police then descended on the scene and found a blank gun and a BB gun hidden in the sofa lining and spent casing shells in the back garden.

The victim was travelling from Newcastle Central Station when three men got on at Pelaw on the afternoon of Sunday May 2 last year. None were wearing masks, despite passengers being encouraged to do so and James Rutherford was swigging from a can of beer.

A court heard the victim politely asked if the trio were exempt from wearing masks. Rutherford claimed one of them had COPD and said Covid was not real and the victim said he wore a mask despite having asthma. He was then subjected to violence on the train in Jarrow.

Sentencing Rutherford at Newcastle Crown Court, Recorder Andrew Latimer said: "A verbal dispute arose about wearing masks and you tried to take his mask off him and told him you would smash his face.

"The three of you descended on him and you admit slapping him and others hit him. He was left with three fractures to his cheek and eye socket and had six weeks off work. You can imagine how painful that would have been for him.

"The victim personal statement makes clear the continuing impact it's had on him. You played your part in that affray even if you didn't land the blows that caused the worst of the injuries."

Other passengers intervened in the incident, which went on for around 15 minutes.

Chad Proctor

Chad Proctor

This disgusting thug spat in the faces of a nurse and a police officer.

Chad Procter told the female PC he had covid before carrying out the vile attack at a hospital then spat on the nurse's cheek months later.

The first attack happened on April 22 last year in the early hours of the morning at Sunderland Royal Hospital. Proctor was under arrest but was taken there after claiming he had taken tablets and had covid.

Michael Bunch, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court he was abusive to the officer and nurses and kicked out while in a wheelchair and refused to speak to medical staff. He added: "He stood up from the wheelchair, walked towards the officer and spat in her face, saying 'I hope you die you blonde s**g, I've got covid'.

"It landed on her face and he spat a second time, which landed on her overalls."

Procter ended up back at the same hospital on September 18 amid concern he had been injured. He was abusive and aggressive to the nurse and threatened to "kick the f****** place to bits". He kicked out at a large number of pieces of medical equipment, including an expensive ultrasound machine.

Mr Bunch said: "He threatened to smash the victim's face in and said he would put his fist through his face. He also interrupted others being being treated, including a very elderly person in a side room."

Procter decided to leave but the nurse was concerned he might still have a cannula in his arm, which could have caused him harm, so went outside after him. Mr Bunch said: "He initially appeared okay but as he tried to pat his arm to find the cannula he screamed 'f*** off' you're assaulting me.

"He hockled then spat at him, hitting him on the cheek and uniform."

Procter, 34, of Elms Road, Sunderland, who has 36 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He also admitted four shop thefts and asked for a further 17 to be taken into account, totalling around £3,000. He was jailed for a total of nine months.

Yates drove up to the victim, who was sitting on a bench outside a chip shop in Seaham, on July 21 this year and launched a brutal attack that left him unconscious. Yates then "calmly" got back into his car and drove off as the victim was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Durham Crown Court heard the victim was a vulnerable man who had already sustained a brain injury as a result of a heart attack in 2019 and had suffered with short term memory loss and speech difficulties ever since. As Yates alleged the victim and two other men were responsible for attacking him in 2016, the court heart the attack Yates launched had a "hint of revenge" about it.

Yates, 39, of Essex Crescent, Seaham, appeared at the court via link from HMP Durham to be sentenced for causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He had previously pleaded guilty to the charge.

Judge James Adkin passed a nine year extended determinate prison sentence, meaning Yates will serve six years in jail and three years on licence.

George Carter

George Carter left his former partner terrified she'd be killed after launching a vicious attack in December last year.

The 31-year-old punched her repeatedly before "straddling" her and grabbing her by the throat. He then threatened to burn down her home if she called the police.

Jonathan Armstrong

Domestic abuser, Jonathan Armstrong punched his then-partner repeatedly in the face and even attempted to bite her forehead during a relationship that was marred by violence.

The 28-year-old also contacted her constantly over WhatsApp during a "one-sided messaging process" and was seen by a witness stamping on her head in the street.

Armstrong, whose address was listed as HMP Durham, appeared at Durham Crown Court via link to the prison to be sentenced for causing actual bodily harm, coercive and controlling behaviour, and criminal damage. He had pleaded guilty to the charges, which were committed between April and June this year.

Sentencing Armstrong, Judge James Adkin jailed him for 28 months and imposed a 10 year restraining order.

Stuart Holloway

Stuart Holloway caused damage costing £9,000 to repair after smashing a cabinet at Boots pharmacy in Easington Colliery, after he was told his prescription wasn't ready.

Later the same day, the 35-year-old handed himself in at a police station and was found in possession of a hunting knife.

After being released under investigation, Holloway was again back in trouble with police five days later after he was seen playing with a cut-throat razor in a doctor's surgery. Then, the next month, he was again arrested for brandishing a knife on a bus after he "lost his temper" at a group of girls.

Holloway, of Windlestone Road, Billingham, appeared at Durham Crown Court via link from HMP Durham to be sentenced for counts of possession of a bladed article and criminal damage. He had pleaded guilty to the offences.

Sentencing Holloway, Judge James Adkin jailed him for 20 months.

Ryan Lee Smith

Ryan Lee Smith "lost his temper" and armed himself with a knife after finding out his mum had sent some of his clothes to charity without his permission.

The 23-year-old then made terrifying threats and assaulted her, before taking her phone off her to stop her from calling the police.

Smith, formerly of John Street North, Meadowfield, Durham, appeared at Durham Crown Court via link from HMP Durham on Thursday to be sentenced for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, making threats to kill and threatening a person with a bladed article. He had pleaded guilty to the charges.

Sentencing Smith, Judge James Adkin said: “For some fairly inexplicable reasons, including your mother getting rid of some of your clothing to charity, you completely lost your temper.” Smith was jailed for 32 months, with a recommendation being made that a condition of his post-sentence licence should be to forbid Smith from contacting his mother.

Jack Mellis

This paedophile who was found with a hoard of sickening abuse images had shared some to other perverts online and videoed two children on his phone.

Jack Mellis, 22, was found in possession of 46 hours worth of category A indecent videos when police examined his mobile phone. Officers had seized his phone after they became aware he had been sharing child abuse images online. But worryingly, during analysis of his iPhone, an expert discovered two videos of young children which he had surreptitiously filmed himself.

Mellis, of Ushaw Moor, County Durham, appeared at Durham Crown Court to be sentenced for making indecent images, distribution of indecent images, and voyeurism. He had pleaded guilty to the charges at a previous hearing.

The court heard that following examination of his iPhone, a total of 113 category A images and nine videos were found, along with 128 category B images and three videos, and 457 category C images and nine videos. But as well as those indecent images, a concerning video was also discovered of a child that Mellis had secretly filmed himself by hiding his phone.

Sentencing Mellis, Judge Jo Kidd said he was found in possession of "46 hours worth of category A videos" and jailed him for 18 months and made him subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He will also be on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

The 43-year-old turned up to a petrol station where the witness worked alone on various occasions and even tried to get the man to "destroy" evidence at one point of him driving over the prescribed limit.

Holmes, of Sylvia Terrace, Stanley, was found guilty of two counts of intending to pervert the course of justice after a trial.

The court was told Holmes had 25 previous convictions for 42 offences and that the perverting the course of justice offence was "deliberate, targeted and sustained". Judge Kidd sentenced Holmes to 12 months in prison.

Charlotte Brown

This thief breached four separate suspended sentences by committing a "trolley dash" offence at a supermarket and driving offences.

Charlotte Brown carried out shop theft offences and was caught driving whilst disqualified after filling up her car at a petrol station and driving off without paying. The 40-year-old also filled up a trolley full of goods at an Asda and made off without paying. She then returned the next day and attempted to steal over £800 worth of goods but was stopped by security.

Brown, of Cedar Terrace, Houghton-le-Spring, appeared at Durham Crown Court where she pleaded guilty to making off without paying, theft, and driving whilst disqualified. She had pleaded guilty to the offences.

Judge Jo Kidd jailed Brown for 23 months and banned her from driving for 20 months.

Jonathan Foster, 48, and Louise Stabler, 34, targeted an elderly man and his son before walking into their home uninvited and taking bank cards and money on May 5 this year. One of the victims was also ushered away in a vehicle and was ordered to withdraw his money from various cash machines, which left him feeling "abused".

This robber pulled a knife on a shop customer who tried to stop her partner from stealing.

Patricia Hymers and Ryan Reynolds had brazenly packed a bag with items and were leaving without paying when they were challenged by staff and customers sought to intervene. When one man grabbed Reynolds, Hymers brandished a blade at him to force him to let him go.

The serial criminal, who has 135 previous convictions, carried out her latest offence at the Shell garage shop, on the Gateshead side of the Redheugh Bridge, on May 21 this year.

Hymers, 37, of Fontwell Drive, Gateshead, pleaded guilty to robbery and possessing two knives, which she was seen to dispose of when police found the couple nearby. Reynolds admitted theft but was not at court, having been stabbed in the neck with a bottle.

Hymers was on bail for criminal damage at the time of the robbery, having targeted a neighbour on her street, hitting the front door of a couple with a baby with a hammer and damaging the man's motorbike.

She was jailed for a total of 30 months, of which she was told she will spend no more than half in custody.

David Milligan

David Milligan, jailed for preying on young girls on Snapchat

This social media predator targeted seven young girls in a series of sex offences.

David Milligan was in his 40s but posed as a younger man when engaging in sexualised chats with children as young as 12 on Snapchat. A court heard he asked for and sometimes received indecent images from the youngsters and sent them pictures and videos of his genitals.

The pervert's disgraceful behaviour only came to light when police seized his devices as part of an investigation into him having indecent images of children. They then discovered he had also been in touch with girls aged between 12 and 15 online.

One victim, who was 14, said Milligan added her on Snapchat and appeared friendly and she thought he was about 17. He then started asking about her underwear and turned the chat sexual and told her what he wanted to do to her.

Milligan, living in Newcastle at the time but now of Townhead Road, Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, Scotland pleaded guilty to a total of 18 offences, including sexual communication with a child, inciting a child to engage in a sexual act, causing a child to watch a sexual act and three attempted offences in relation to victims who did not provide statements. He also admitted possessing 424 category A indecent images, 524 category B, 5,653 category C. He also had 35 prohibited images and 55 extreme pornography images featuring animals.

Judge Sarah Mallett jailed him for six years and told he must sign the sex offenders register and be subject to a sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order, all indefinitely.

This thug jailed for knocking his ex unconscious with a kettle and "keeping her hostage" in her home had also been dealing spice.

A court heard that, in December 2020, police searched Ash's home and found £975-worth of the class B drug, also known as synthetic cannabis. Officers also seized his phone and found evidence Ash had been dealing at a street level, prosecutors said.

Appearing before magistrates in Newcastle via video link from HMP Northumberland, where he's still serving his sentence for the assault on his ex, Ash, formerly of Rothbury Terrace, in Heaton, pleaded guilty to possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.

Ash was jailed for eight weeks but it will not be added on to the end of his current sentence, from which he is due to be possibly released in November.
