PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE IN DC, BUT HE’S BEEN A BIG CHUNK OF HIS AFTERNOON ON PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE IN HAGERSTOWN. HE PAID A VISIT TO A MAJOR EMPLOYER IN THE AREA THE VOLVO GROUP POWERTRAIN OPERATIONS 11 NEWS LEAD POLITICAL REPORTER TOMORROW. IS THERE FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL TOUR AND SPEECH AND HAS MORE TONIGHT FROM HAGERSTOWN. A COUPLE OF HOURS BEFORE HIS ARRIVAL THERE WERE ABOUT TWO DOZEN PEOPLE PROTESTING PRESIDENT. JOE BIDEN’S VISIT HERE TO THE VOLVO TRUCK PLANT IN HAGERSTOWN. HOWEVER, ONCE HE ARRIVED AND GOT INSIDE THE PRESIDENT GOT A VERY WARM WELCOME TO START OFF WITH TWO WORDS. MADE IN AMERICA MADE IN AMERICA THE ECONOMY AND MANUFACTURING THE FOCUS OF PRESIDENT JOE BUCK THE STAGE IN HIS SPEECH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PLANT’S HIGH PRECISION MACHINING AREA. THE PRESIDENT SAID MADE IN AMERICA WILL SOLVE AMERICA’S SUPPLY CHAIN PROBLEMS. HE ALSO SAID THE NEW BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW WILL HELP TAMP DOWN INFLATION AND CREATE JOBS FOR YEARS TO COME. WHERE’S IT WRITTEN AS I SAID THE AMERICAN CAN’T LEAD THE WORLD OF MANUFACTURING AGAIN. ALREADY CREATED WE’RE ALREADY CREATED OVER 628 YEARS 38,000 MANUFACTURING JOBS. SINCE I’VE BEEN PRESIDENT. President Joe Biden started Friday on Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C, but he spent a big chunk of his afternoon on Pennsylvania Avenue in Hagerstown.Biden paid a visit to the Volvo Group Powertrain Operations, a major employer in the area.A couple hours before his arrival, there were about two dozen people protesting Biden's visit -- waving signs and waving at cars along the main road leading to the Volvo truck plant. But once inside the facility, the president got a warm welcome."Let me start off with two words: Made in America. Made in America," Biden said.The economy and manufacturing were the focus of Biden's visit to the Volvo truck plant in Hagerstown.He talked about job creation and talked with workers on the job.About 1,700 Volvo employees work at the plant in Hagerstown, making all of the engines, transmissions and most of the axels for every Volvo truck seen on the road.The president took a tour, talked with a handful of engineers about EV technology and then he took the stage.Video below: Watch Biden's full address in HagerstownIn his speech, in the middle of the plant's high precision machining area, Biden said made in America will solve supply America's supply chain problems.And said the new bipartisan infrastructure law will help tamp down inflation and create jobs for years to come."Where is it written that America can't be the global leader? We're already great at it, manufacturing jobs," Biden said.Though running behind schedule, Biden stuck around for some time after his speech, shaking nearly every hand along the rope line, stopping to chat and jogging across the room a couple times to take photos.This was Biden's second visit to our state in six weeks' time.
