David Warner swung into form cracking a crisp 75 from only 41 balls as Mitchell Starc grabbed four wickets as Australia beat the West Indies by 31 runs Friday to clinch the T20I series 2-0 in the build-up to defending their World Cup title.

Tim David entertained with a 42 off 20 balls, including three big sixes, to steer Australia to 178-7.

“It was a fantastic all-round performance and well executed by the bowlers. At the halfway mark we had discussed about bowling Test match lines and lengths, and they nailed them,” said man-of-the-match Warner.

However, it was David Warner with two beautifully hit sixes that won applause from the fans at the Gabba. Warner scored 75 of Australia’s first 96 runs.

For Warner, reigning World Cup player-of-the-tournament, his batting was a warning to the rest of the teams that he is easing back into form.

Warner’s love affair with the Gabba continues and it was a vintage Warner, flaying the fast bowlers through the off in the powerplay before he hit those pair of amazing sixes.

A swept six over fine leg off Jason Holder into a pack of fans wearing bald caps – perfect timing and that right amount of power as Warner used Holder’s pace to send the ball into the stands.

In his last 14 innings across all international formats at the Gabba, Warner averages 75.83 with three hundreds and four fifties.
