Time to get your ballot in

The 2022 mid-term election season is nearing its end as the mail-in ballots must be returned to one’s respective county clerk’s office by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8.
Locally, Adam Gates and Dwain Weinrich are running for Yuma County Commissioner District 1. Several county-elected positions are unopposed as Republicans Bev Wenger (clerk and recorder), Chrystal Hammond (treasurer), Cindy Taylor (assessor), Todd Combs (sheriff), and Javan Jones (coroner) are the only candidates.
The City of Yuma has a 1.5-percent sales tax increase on the ballot. The new revenue is earmarked for the ambulance, police, fire and street departments. Incumbent Democrat Jared Polis and Republican challenger Heidi Ganahl lead the ballot for governor. Republican incumbent Ken Buck is challenged by Democrat Ike McCorkle for the Fourth Congressional District seat.
There also are statewide races for secretary of state, treasurer and attorney general.
There are several state ballot measures.
