Oklahoma experts discussed the shocking new jackpot with the Powerball lottery.
The jackpot is a record-high $1.6 billion. After federal and state taxed are subtracted, you’re looking at a payout of around $456 million and it could be all yours after Saturday’s drawing.
Just this week, a man from Oklahoma won a $2 million prize
"He was very shocked, very excited to be a winner of that much money," said Abby Morgan, director of marketing with the Oklahoma Lottery.
If there’s a grand prize Powerball winner, it would be $1.6 billion. With the cash option, that comes out to $784.2 million.
To put things into perspective, the Devon Tower in Oklahoma City was built for around $750 million. The Paycom Center was built for just over $89 million in 2002.
If you’re not in the market for real estate, how about a private jet? According to bankrate.com, a heavy business jet could cost between $27 million to $39 million.
"You can buy a Powerball ticket at any of our locations across the state. There are a ton of them. It’s easy. The machine will pick numbers for you, or you can select your own," Morgan said.
The Oklahoma Lottery reminded players part of ticket sales go to help children in the classroom.
"All of the proceeds from the Oklahoma lottery sales go back to education, so when the jackpot is this high, we can do amazing things, and it’s more we can give back to the state," Morgan said.
