Unclaimed Mesa lottery ticket bumps up The Pick jackpot to $6.7M

Posted

A lottery ticket that went unclaimed last month has been added to The Pick jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing.

The person who failed to pick up the $4.3 million prize for a ticket purchased at a Mesa store by the Oct. 24 expiration deadline has contributed the cash to boost the Nov. 16 jackpot to $6.7 million, Arizona Lottery officials announced.

“We are excited to give the players another chance at cashing in big,” Gregg Edgar, Arizona Lottery executive director, said.

“While we never like to see a ticket go unclaimed, this is a great way for us to return that win on Arizona’s game back to The Pick players.”

Money from Arizona Lottery ticket sales support statewide programs in several areas, officials said, including higher education, health and human services, conservation and economic and business development.

Last fiscal year, the Arizona Lottery's ticket proceeds returned nearly $270 million to Arizona communities, officials said, and since 1981 the agency has returned more than $5 billion in support of various programs.
