WAG of Celtic star Aaron Mooy ‘so proud’ after huge Australia World Cup win against Tunisia

AUSTRALIA recorded a famous World Cup win over Tunisia earlier to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.

Graham Arnold's men recovered from their opening game defeat to reigning champions France to move within touching distance of a place in the round of 16.

The Socceroos ran-out 1-0 winners thanks to a header from star striker Mitchell Duke midway through the first-half.

And there were plenty of star performances from the SPFL representatives in the side too.

Scottish-born Harry Souttar and Hearts defender Kye Rowles put in colossal displays in the middle of defence, with Dundee United's Aziz Behich at left-back.

Aaron Mooy was another to earn top marks for his efforts in the middle of the pitch.

The Celtic midfielder had originally struggled to start under countryman Ange Postecoglou in Glasgow but just before the break had earned himself a regular place in the team.

He's now carried that form into the World Cup too, where he partners ex-Ross County and Hibs ace Jackson Irvine in the middle.

The 32-year-old was cheered on from the stands by wife Nicola who took to social media to show how happy she was for her partner.

She posted a selection of images to her Instagram account and wrote: "So proud".

Mooy is joined in Arnold's squad by former Hibs and Rangers striker Jason Cummings.

Now at Aussie A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners, the 27-year-old switched his allegiance from Scotland earlier in the year and now plays his international football down under.

He was an unused sub today but played just over half-an-hour as a second-half introduction against France.

Cummings' former club boss Alan Stubbs however reckons Steve Clarke may regret allowing the switch to take place.

After being capped just twice in friendlies the striker struggled to find a place anywhere near the Hampden set-up.

But according to Stubbs it could prove to be a mistake from Clarke to have left him out for so long.

The change of scenery has worked well for Cummings so far, he has 21 goal contributions in 26 appearances for his new side Central Coast Mariners.
