Leicestershire Police have thwarted a passenger's cunning attempts to hide drugs in an ice cream tub.

"Here's a scoop for you!" the force jokingly tweeted, before offering details of the incident, albeit with a few dessert-related puns.

"Officers noticed this parked Corsa at midnight. Occupants & car searched. "What's in the tub mate?" "Ice cream". Hmmm. We weren't born last Sundae," they wrote. "Passenger dealt with for possession of cannabis. We can't cone-done that behaviour."

Leicestershire Police shared images of the ice cream tub in question, which appears to be vanilla flavoured and of the soft scoop variety.

No details were shared as to the consequent action taken by the officers. Under UK law, police can issue a warning or an on-the-spot fine of £90 if you're found with cannabis on your person. The maximum penalty for possession of a Class B drug (which includes cannabis) is up to five years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.
