ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions have ruled out edge rusher Julian Okwara and interior offensive lineman Evan Brown for their game on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And that’s it. That’s the list.
No one else is out. No one is doubtful. No one is even questionable.
Simply put, this is the best injury report of the season for one of the league’s most oft-injured teams.
Cornerback Jeff Okudah (brain), guard Jonah Jackson (brain) and pass rusher Josh Paschal (knee) have all been officially cleared to return against Jacksonville. Okudah and Jackson didn’t play on Thanksgiving, while Paschal had missed the last two weeks.
The only mystery heading into the weekend is whether the Lions will activate receiver Jameson Williams and/or edge rusher Romeo Okwara from injured lists. Head coach Dan Campbell said those decisions had not been made as of Friday morning, although all signs point toward Williams being at least a week away despite lighting up the practice field with his speed all week. He has not yet taken a hit, has been limited to scout team work since rejoining practice this week, and still must develop chemistry with Jared Goff and the rest of the offense. But his day is coming, perhaps as soon as next week against Minnesota.
Romeo Okwara has a better chance to play against Jacksonville after getting in a couple weeks of practice in his return from an Achilles injury.
