Low Carbon to build 75 MW of solar farms in UK

UK-based renewable energy company Low Carbon today said it will build three solar farms in the UK with a combined capacity of more than 75 MW.

These are the first UK projects to be supported by a financing facility agreed with NatWest, Lloyds Bank and AIB earlier this year that is expected to help deliver 1 GW of solar capacity as part of Low Carbon’s target of 20 GW of new renewable energy capacity by 2030. Recently the company said that four solar farms totalling 53.1 MW are starting construction in the Netherlands.

The three UK projects are located in Essex, Derbyshire and Buckinghamshire. They will all be designed and constructed by Bouygues Energies & Services.

The 23.4-MW Fox Covert solar farm in Buckinghamshire will begin construction imminently, while the 28.8-MW Inkersall Road solar farm in Derbyshire and the 23-MW St Clere’s solar farm in Essex will break ground early in 2023.
