Memphis football added a commitment through the transfer portal on Wednesday with former Georgia Tech offensive lineman R.J. Adams.

Adams, who announced his decision on Twitter, did not participate in a game this season and entered the portal on Monday. He initially signed with Kentucky in 2020 but did not see game action in two seasons with the Wildcats before transferring in April after spring practice.

The 6-foot-3, 326-pound Adams is also the first addition to the Tigers' 2023 class via the portal and he has three years of eligibility remaining. He is a former three-star recruit from Woodbridge, Virginia.

He'll add depth to a Memphis' offensive line group that had its struggles in both run blocking and pass protection. The Tigers allowed 32 sacks this season, second-most in the AAC.

Memphis also needs to replace both tackles with Austin Myers and Matt Dale exhausting their eligibility after the season.
