The tragic case of Nikki Kuhnhausen, the 17-year-old from Vancouver whose killer strangled her when he learned Kuhnhausen was transgender, is again explored in a new Hulu documentary series, “How I Caught My Killer.” While there is apparently no limit to the public’s interest in true-crime stories, “How I Caught My Killer” is approaching the cases it covers by focusing on homicide victims whose own actions helped authorities find the killer.

The series is also attempting, as the description says, to “confront the harsh reality that our system is blind to many underserved and invisible communities that make up a disproportionate percentage of the people who lose their lives to homicide every year.”
