Blinken: all options "available" to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapon

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that despite Iran's refusal to return to the nuclear agreement, Washington still believes that diplomacy is the most effective way to deal with the Iranian nuclear file, explaining at the same time that all options are available on the table to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

The US Secretary of State stressed - in an exclusive interview with Al-Arabiya news channel this evening / Sunday / - that US President Joe Biden affirmed his determination that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons.

On the protests in Iran, the US Secretary of State indicated that the Iranian people are defending their basic rights, stressing at the same time Washington's support for the Iranian people, adding that his country has imposed sanctions on all those responsible for repression in Iran.

On the other hand, Blinken said that he will hold talks with the Israeli government and the Palestinian Authority to reduce the escalation.

Regarding the Libyan file, the US Secretary of State announced that his country supports holding elections in Libya at this stage, stressing that there is a need for a clear and legitimate government that represents the Libyan people.

Concerning the US-Saudi relations, the US Secretary of State said that relations between Washington and Riyadh are important, stressing at the same time that his country is working with Saudi Arabia to end the war in Yemen.
