Thousands of Indigo-branded mugs and other houseware products may have mould lurking under their surface, warns Health Canada.
The recall involves 21,890 units of the affected products, which were sold in Canada between August 2022 and December 2022. The items were manufactured in China.
According to the federal health agency, “humid conditions” may have caused mould under the glazed surface of the products. Health Canada warns that it can make people sick, as mould ingestion may pose a risk of gastrointestinal symptoms and infections in consumers with compromised immune systems.

The recalled items include a number of houseware products ranging in design, colour and size, including mugs, mug ornaments, cookie jars, casserole pots and platters.
At the time of the recall, the company has not received any reports of injuries in Canada.
Consumers are being told to stop using the recalled items, and return them to an Indigo store for a full refund or contact Indigo for more information.
Affected items must not be redistributed, sold or given away in Canada in accordance with the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.
