The Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals had one of the most exciting games ever. It was a do-or-die situation since the winners would book themselves a Super Bowl spot. Both teams’ fan bases have developed a rivalry that has become the most gruelling one. But a snippet featuring Ja’Marr Chase and Willie Gay Jr. might prove that the rivalry is among the teams.

The NFL released a Mic’d up video for the Conference Championships that spotlighted the Bengals-Chiefs AFC playoff game. The competition for the Lamar Hunt trophy was intense for both teams. KC had to battle it out to stand tall. It had some jovial moments, but Ja’Marr Chase had a cold reply to Willie Gay Jr.’s request.

What a cold response!

Willie Gay Jr. approached Ja’Marr Chase and requested his jersey before leaving the game during the third quarter due to a shoulder injury. Dov Kleiman shared the snippet where he humbly asked, “Hey, let me get your jersey.” However, the Bengals’ No. 1 wide receiver was unwilling to make that switch. Gay Jr.’s request received a cold response from him. Chase said, “Hell no… Hell naw.”

Ja’Marr Chase had some spectacular plays. But that was not enough to stall the Chiefs’ momentum, which was going through an injury plague. Patrick Mahomes and company could avenge the franchise’s loss from last year when the Bengals advanced to the Super Bowl to face the Rams.

The Bengals’ WR1 became a franchise star after teaming up with Joe Burrow. Both players played two seasons and made it to the AFC Championship Game both times. Ja’Marr Chase was largely responsible for Cin City’s success. But the athlete did not make the cut in the NFLPA’s All-Pro voting candidates.

Ja’Marr Chase failed to make it into the All-Pro voting list

Ja’Marr Chase is an active competitor in the 2023 Pro Bowl games. However, he missed out on another accolade. The Bengals WR could not make it into the NFLPA’s first-ever All-Pro teams. He had a solid season with 1000+ yards and nine TDs, but could not make it into the top five. This year, Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, and A.J. Brown are on the list.

Chase’s reason for not breaking in could be the hip injury he sustained mid-season. Moreover, the cancellation of the Bills-Bengals Week 17 game could also affect the numbers, which could have kept him in the top five.

But Chase would receive more opportunities to break into the All-Pro honors again.
