Ontario International Airport has partnered with Discover IE to open an information center in the international terminal, advertising hidden gems in the Inland Empire to encourage tourism.

Discover IE, a destination marketing nonprofit which advertises entertainment opportunities in the Inland Empire, aims to entice tourists to explore the region. The new ONT information center and photo booth are placed in the international terminal, the gateway for travelers flying with Avianca, China Airlines, and Volaris.

“It is really kind of that great first impression that people coming in from Mexico, Columbia, and Taiwan get to see first hand as they clear customs and come out into our international terminal,” said Atif Elkadi, airport CEO.

The airport reported nearly 200,000 international travelers in 2022, and the placement of the Discover IE center puts local travel destinations directly in passengers’ paths as they enter the international terminal.

“International travelers, they stay longer, spend more, and are flexible with their travel dates so there is no other better place for promoting our region than from the gateway” at the international terminal, said Discover IE CEO Freddy Bi.

The kiosk offers brochures and information about various destinations in the region — from the historic Mission Inn in Riverside to national parks in the area.

The kiosk also has a photo booth which will rotate images throughout the year to match the season and Discover IE’s social media campaign. Currently the booth showcases Big Bear for ski season but it will be swapped out later this month to display images of Joshua Tree, according to Bi.

“Discover IE always promotes a beautiful, diverse group of hidden wonders throughout 59 cities” in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, Bi said.
