Reedsburg electrician claims $1.5 million Megabucks jackpot 💰

REEDSBURG, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Paul Kennedy, a Reedsburg resident and career electrician, has claimed the $1.5 million Megabucks jackpot from the March 18 drawing.

Kennedy purchased his winning ticket at Prairie Cenex in Prairie Du Sac and claimed his prize at the Wisconsin Lottery offices in Madison on Wednesday, March 22. He spoke about the stroke of good luck in a press release issued on Friday, March 24, saying, "I like to play Megabucks regularly because it’s a Wisconsin game."

His winning numbers were 11-30-34-35-36-39. This marks the second Megabucks jackpot win of 2023, following a $15.1 million win in the Village of Luck on Jan. 4.

Megabucks has drawings on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with tickets priced at two plays for $1. To participate, tickets must be purchased before 9 p.m. on drawing days.

The Wisconsin Lottery claimed in their press release that they give back 93 percent of revenue to winners, retailers and Wisconsin homeowners. Since 1988, the lottery has reportedly generated more than $17 billion in total revenue, over $9.7 billion in prizes paid and over $5.1 billion in funding for property tax credits to eligible Wisconsin homeowners.
