The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), Miami-Dade County’s official destination marketing organization, has named Carolyn Corrigan director of travel industry sales for Latin America and the Caribbean.

In her role, Corrigan will be responsible for promoting Greater Miami and Miami Beach as one of the world’s most distinctive and desired destinations to travel industry professionals throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. She joins a tourism marketing team that includes a global network representing 50 countries, working to develop and implement strategic initiatives throughout the region and foster relationships for international business opportunities.

“Our destination travel numbers reached historical highs this past year, demonstrating that visitor momentum is not slowing down,” said David Whitaker, GMCVB president and CEO.

“It’s anticipated that our international source markets, including Latin America are poised to achieve and surpass prior levels so it’s important to secure someone with Carolyn’s expertise to capitalize on previous and new business opportunities.”

A native of South Florida, Corrigan brings to the GMCVB nearly 30 years of hospitality experience and extensive knowledge of the region and market. Most recently, she served as international business development director for Costa Cruises and Carnival Cruise Lines, and in sales for Marriott Hotels & Resorts. Corrigan has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality from Florida International University.

A few short days after joining the GMCVB, Corrigan already was in one of the top international markets promoting Greater Miami and Miami Beach at Vitrina Turística ANATO in Colombia, the country’s leading trade event for travel professionals and consumers intent on discovering new destinations, attractions and cultural experiences.
