Jackson County Supervisors announce sale of Singing River Health System

Jackson County Supervisors Open Bids To Buy Singing River Health System

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health Systems has bought Singing River Health System, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors announced this morning.

The hospital system also owns Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge and St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. The sale will be completed this fall.

The deal was brokered through a third-party healthcare-focused advisory firm, Raymond James Financial Services. SRHS and the Board of Supervisors announced they would seek a buyer for the county-owned system in June 2022.

“We are excited about the possibilities for healthcare in our region and believe the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System is the right choice,” says Ken Taylor, Board of Supervisors President. “Fundamentally, they share our community values and have a mission to provide equal access to healthcare for all.”

The sale is not expected affect staff or patient care.  The selling price was not announced, but Raymond James projected a selling price between $158 million and $238 million.

Franciscan Missionaries was founded in 1911 in Monroe, Louisiana, and is now headquartered in Baton Rouge. The system incorporates 10 hospitals not including SRHS.

This is a developing story.
