Reese Witherspoon 'disappointed and upset' over Jim Toth split as she 'never saw herself getting another divorce' after leaving Ryan Phillippe 15 years ago

Reese Witherspoon announced on Friday she was splitting from her second husband, agent Jim Toth.

And on Monday sources shared with People what the Oscar-winning actress' state of mind has been like after a report she 'fell out of love.'

The insider claimed that the Big Little Lies producer is 'upset' that her union with the 52-year-old super agent has fallen apart.

And it was added that the 47-year-old mother-of-three never thought that she would get divorced again after ending her marriage with actor Ryan Phillippe in 2008.

Reese and Jim wed in March 2011 and soon after welcomed their son Tennessee, now 10.

The beauty also has daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19, with ex-husband Phillippe. Both kids are away at college.

'Reese is obviously disappointed and upset. She never saw herself getting another divorce,' a source told the site.

The source added, 'It's been very difficult for Reese to get to this point. They both concluded this was right for them.'

Reese is a self-proclaimed Type A person while sources say Jim is more 'laid back', and that was likely the issue.

'They are two very different people though. Reese is headstrong and focused. Although very hard-working, Jim is more laidback,' said the source.

But there is no mess: 'There is no drama,' insisted the insider.

And the Los Angeles residents will be there for the child.

'They love Tennessee and this is their focus. They will continue to co-parent amicably.'

The source also provided some background on the marriage.

'After she was set up with Jim, their relationship moved quickly. Reese was thrilled by his attention and excited to marry him,' added the source.

But in recent months, Reese has been working a lot more.

Not only does she act in movies like Your Place Or Mine with Ashton Kutcher.

But she also produces plenty of projects; next is Daisy Jones And The Six with Riley Keough.

And she has also worked on the Jennifer Garner series The Last Thing He Told Me, which is a thriller set in Sausalito, California.

There is also Reese's brand Draper James which sells clothing and accessories.

Her divorced from Ryan in 2008 was tough on her, she has said, but they seem to be on good terms.

In their joint statement Friday, Witherspoon and Toth said the 'difficult decision' to divorce came after 'a great deal of care and consideration.'

'We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together,' they said.

'Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time.'

An insider reportedly told US Weekly back in 2021, the couple had quietly been liquidating their joint assets for a couple of years before taking the final step to dissolving their marriage.

'They decided their marriage wasn’t going to last forever and that they should have a plan for splitting up their assets that wouldn’t destroy what they built together,' the source told the media outlet at the time.

Reese sold a large portion her production company Hello Sunshine for $900 million in August 2021. Jim served as one of the founding board members.

Reese reportedly retained an interest in the company and continues to work for Hello Sunshine as a producer on several projects including Where the Crawdads Sing and the Prime series Daisy Jones and the Six.

'Instead of having to split up a huge company with dozens of employees and several divisions, they have a big pile of money — and there’s plenty for everybody,' the insider explained.

The twosome have reportedly sold several of their homes, including a farmhouse in Malibu in 2020, an English Country-style manor located in Los Angeles and a six-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion in Nashville.

A separate property in Malibu, believed to belong to them, has been listed for sale, according to Redfin, for $8 million.
