Keanu Reeves only says 380 words in three-hour long John Wick: Chapter 4 after cutting half of his dialogue

The highly-anticipated John Wick: Chapter 4 dropped in cinemas last week.

And according to a new report by the Wall Street Journal, Keanu Reeves character only says a total of 380 words throughout the entire film.

Fans were impressed by the film's runtime, clocking in at a whopping two hours and 49 minutes with credits included. 

The publication said: 'As the John Wick movies sprawled in length, they got stingier with the main character's dialogue.

'In the first instalment, clocking in at 101 minutes, Mr Reeves said a total of 484 words.

'With a run time of 169 minutes, the fourth movie pushes three hours but features just 380 words by Wick.'

Around 10 percent of these words are featured in the trailer, with the article saying it 'makes the hero seem almost chatty'. 

Director Chad Stahelski told WSJ that it was Keanu, 58, who cut approximately half the dialogue written for his character in the early script. 

The Lionsgate's film absolutely dominated at the box office in its opening weekend by amassing $73.5M domestic from 3,855 theaters. 

In fact, Chad Stahelski's $100M-budget fourth installment of the action franchise landed the No. 1 spot in all 71 markets and, adding the $64M overseas receipts, the hitman slayed with $137.5M globally - according to Deadline .

For perspective, the original John Wick trilogy collectively earned $584.8M at the global box office.

Not only was JW4's earnings a franchise best, it was also the biggest opening of any R-rated Lionsgate release since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two-hour and 49-minute offering boasts an impressive 'certified fresh' 95% critic approval rating (out of 238 reviews) and 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes .

John Wick: Chapter 4 also features the late Lance Reddick, Bill Skarsgård, Donnie Yen, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Clancy Brown, Marko Zaror, Scott Adkins, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, and Rina Sawayama.  

Fans worried about Wick's fate at the 'ambiguous' end of the film can rest easier knowing producer Basil Iwanyck told IndieWire on Sunday he's eager to explore ideas for a fifth 'if the [fourth] movie does really well and people love it.'

The Beirut-born 58-year-old already reprised his beloved character in Len Wiseman's upcoming John Wick spin-off, Ballerina, starring Oscar nominee Ana de Armas.

The Cuban 34-year-old replaced real-life professional ballerina Unity Phelan, who played the grieving ballerina-turned-assassin Rooney in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum back in 2019.

John Wick's much anticipated spin-off TV series is set to premiere in September.

Producer Erica Lee has divulged the years-long speculation about the release of The Continental, a three-part television series which will focus on the hotel-for-assasins which Keanu Reeves' Wick stays at in the movies.

At the centre of the storyline is a young Winston Scott, played by Ian McShane in the original film.

It will take place in 1975 New York as Scott faces demons from his past and he traverses a dangerous path in the big city's underground scene in an attempt to take control of the hotel.

Speaking to Collider , Erica Lee divulged that the series will be available on Peacock in the US and on Prime Video internationally come September.
