Zack Snyder gave a blunt response when asked about whether DC could sell his SnyderVerse to another studio, a movement that has gained some traction among fans of the director. The SnyderVerse at DC mainly consists of the three movies the director helmed at the studio, those being: Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Zack Snyder's Justice League. Snyder's movies at DC were polarizing, and eventually, the studio decided to move on from the director's plans for the future of his SnyderVerse — which was to include two more Justice League movies.

Speaking on Film Junkee's Vodka Stream, Snyder was asked if DC parent company Warner Bros. would sell the SnyderVerse to another studio.

Snyder gave an honest answer about the possibility, saying, "my influence over those things is very small (...) Whatever control over the IP exists, that's not my part, that's not my role." The question came up due to a growing movement on social media that asks for DC to sell the SnyderVerse to Netflix. Snyder clears up that he has no involvement or knowledge of that possibility, stating that he has been busy shooting Netflix's space epic Rebel Moon.

DC Is Officially Moving On From The SnyderVerse

Zack Snyder and the Snyderverse DCU

It makes sense for Snyder not to know what is going on behind the scenes at DC these days, as the director has been far removed from other DC projects ever since he left Justice League and Joss Whedon took over the movie for reshoots. Snyder did come back to finish off his version of the movie — Zack Snyder's Justice League — which was released on HBO Max in 2021. Beyond that, it appears the director has moved on from DC and is more interested in setting up his Rebel Moon universe at Netflix.

While Snyder has moved on from DC, the comic book studio has also moved on from the SnyderVerse, with DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran charting a new plan for the DC Universe that hinges on a reboot of the work Snyder had done at DC. The first sign of the change at DC came when Gunn announced that Henry Cavill would be recast as Superman. The move came due to the new DC Universe going for a younger take on the character.

Snyder's movies at DC weren't the critical successes that the studio was looking for, but the director did manage to amass a loyal fan base interested in the director's unique spin on DC's iconic characters, which will now remain at the studio's past. Under Gunn and Safran, DC is poised to embrace its comic book roots, starting in an exciting way with 2025's Superman: Legacy, which Gunn is both writing and directing. The film will reportedly take Superman away from the gloomy Zack Snyder interpretation and back to his boy scout self from the comics.
