PETALING JAYA: Harimau Malaya ended their international week with a win after beating Hong Kong 2-0 in a Tier 1 friendly match at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on Tuesday (March 28).

It was their second straight win after beating Turkmenistan 1-0 last Thursday, courtesy of an Akhyar Rashid goal.

In the game against Hong Kong, Winger Akhyar got his second consecutive international goal when he finished off a clever pass from fellow winger Faisal Halim in the 18th minute.

Faisal got his goal in the 41st minute when he received a pass from Darren Lok before beating several defenders and unleashing a left-footed shot.

Despite the two goals, Malaysia looked lacklustre in the first-half, as some players were making wayward and loose passes, and Hong Kong dominated that half but was unlucky upfront.

In the second half, Syafiq Ahmad, Daniel Ting, Stuart Wilkin and Syamer Kutty Abba were brought on for Darren, La’vere Corbin Ong, Nor Azam Azih and Nooa Laine in the 56th minute.

The players were brought into the match to make sure Malaysia maintained its lead and ended the match with a win.
