Woman Charged With Stealing Thousands From Patient Has License Revoked by Department of Health

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has revoked the license of a healthcare worker who had been charged with stealing from a patient.
On Tuesday, RIDOH signed the order, after now-former licensed nursing assistant Jahlena-Ann Ut Giron was arrested in 2022 — and failed to respond, or appear, at RIDOH hearings on the matter.

About Case
According to RIDOH, Giron was employed by a staffing agency and assigned to a patient at the patient’s home.
“On June 8, 2022, [Giron] used the patient’s ATM card to withdraw $600 from the patient’s bank account. On June 23, 2022, [Giron] cashed a check made out to [her] in the amount of $3,500 from an account owned by the patient.
On July 27, 2022, criminal charges were filed against [Giron] including exploitation of elderly person, larceny over $500 of an elderly person, obtaining money by false pretenses, and forgery and counterfeiting.”
Giron was requested to appear before RIDOH on the matter -- but did not.
RIDOH asserted that Giron violated Rhode Island General Laws, as well as the “unprofessional conduct” section of the state’s licensing regulation.
