As Japan welcomed the G7 leaders in Hiroshima, another ‘uninvited guest’ made his appearance outside the G7 Media Centre. A lone protesting Buddhist monk was seen outside the G7 Media Centre, raising his voice for a nuclear-weapon-free world. The monk carried a placard with two lines written in Hindi calling for a world free of nuclear weapons. Toyoshige Sekiguchi also disclosed his plans to “hopefully” visit India in September to “pray for peace”. Sekiguchi, who lived in India for nine years, reiterated Mahatma Gandhi’s principle of ‘Ahimsa’.
