COLUMBIA — Chase Bank is readying two branches in the Columbia area, its first foray into the Midlands after expanding into several other markets in South Carolina.

The first full-service office to open locally will be at 10314 Two Notch Road at North Pointe Shopping Center. It is expected to open by the end of the year, according to spokeswoman Allison Reed.

The second location will be at 4800 Garners Ferry Road, and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2024.

Both sites currently are under construction.

The locations come at a time when other national banks have been cutting back on their physical locations, both branches and ATMs.

The Garners Ferry site formerly was the longtime home to a Wells Fargo branch, while the Northeast location last belonged to First Horizon Bank.

Wells Fargo has closed several other branches around Columbia, including in Five Points, on St. Andrews Road and on Forest Drive.

Chase already has numerous sites elsewhere in South Carolina. Across the Upstate and coast it has more than 30 branch or ATM locations, according to the company's website.

Chase is the retail banking side of JPMorgan Chase & Co., the nation's largest bank based on loans and other assets.
