In one of the worst train accidents in India, at least 288 people have died and more than 900 have been injured. The numbers are only expected to rise as the rescue team revealed that yet another bogie is left to be cleared in which more casualties are expected.

The Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express collided with a stationary goods train and 10-12 coaches derailed and fell on the adjacent track. In the meantime, the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, which was heading from the opposite direction, collided with the derailed coaches, which led to the derailment of three to four of its own coaches. The three-train accident has sent the entire nation into a state of shock.

Taking to his social media handle, AR Rahman wrote, "#OdishaTrainCrash What a tragedy…..Devastating news Prayers to the families and people of Odisha! @Naveen_Odisha Prayers to all the families who got impacted because of this (sic)."
