On July 2, 2002, Monday Night Raw aired an episode that featured a match between two of the most iconic wrestlers in the history of the business, The Rock and Eddie Guerrero. Despite not being a title match, it was still a dream match that no one realized at the time.

Why Wasn't The Rock Vs Eddie Guerrero A Big Dream Match At The Time?

At the time, The Rock was one of the biggest stars in the wrestling world. He had been on top of the business for years and was a household name. Eddie Guerrero, on the other hand, was not yet the superstar he would eventually become. He had been in the business for years but had never quite reached the level of success that he would eventually achieve. Despite this, the match between The Rock and Eddie Guerrero on that July night did the job it intended to do. The two men put on a wrestling clinic, showcasing their incredible skills and ability to tell a story in the ring. The chemistry between the two was evident.

The match itself was not given a lot of hype at the time, but looking back, it was a dream match that no one realized. The Rock and Eddie Guerrero were two of the most talented wrestlers of their generation, and seeing them in the ring together was a treat for fans. Sadly, this would be the only time that The Rock and Eddie Guerrero would face each other in a singles match. The two would both go on to become icons in the wrestling business, but their paths would never cross again in the ring. It's a shame that we never got to see these two legends face off again as Eddie tragically passed away in 2005.

The Rock Vs Eddie Guerrero Happened On Raw

The match between The Rock and Eddie Guerrero was a surprise to many wrestling fans. It was not hyped up like some of the other matches that were scheduled for that night, and as a result, it came from out of nowhere. However, it turned out to be an extraordinary main event on the road to SummerSlam. What made this match particularly exciting was the fact that Eddie Guerrero was always as brash and arrogant as The Rock. Guerrero was never one to back down from a fight, and his words often got him into trouble.

The Rock vs Eddie Guerrero

Of course, there was never any doubt that Eddie Guerrero would rise to the occasion. He was always one of the most celebrated in-ring competitors of his generation and had a reputation for delivering outstanding performances whenever he stepped into the ring. Once again, The Great One proved his doubters wrong in the match against Eddie Guerrero. The Rock started the match with some impressive reversals and counters, even managing to floor Guerrero with an arm drag and locking in a deep arm bar. Throughout the match, Rock sold a lot of Guerrero's offense, showing the audience how skilled his opponent was. In fact, the majority of the contest was focused on Latino Heat proving himself as the equal to the WWE Undisputed champion, controlling the pace of the match. However, The Rock fought back and ultimately scored the pinfall victory. Despite the loss, the match was Guerrero's chance to shine, and he did just that.

Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio

One of the biggest losses that fans experienced as a result of Guerrero's death was the opportunity to see him compete in dream matches that had been long-awaited by wrestling fans. These matches would have been incredible spectacles that showcased Guerrero's talents against some of the best wrestlers of his generation.
