Lance Stroll offered a cheeky wink to Sky Sports journalist Rachel Brookes when she asked if he could finish on the podium on Sunday.

Stroll bested his Aston Martin teammate Fernando Alonso in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix - as he finished sixth. Rachel asked Stroll: "You must be thinking about a podium, is this your first real chance to get a podium this season?"

The Canadian took a moment to answer the question, before he joked: "You're getting me excited Rachel!" Stoll then winked at the journalist before letting off a laugh as the interview ended.

One fan responded: "Lance has been great this year with his interviews, far more relaxed and open than previous seasons. It’s nice to see his personality on show!"

"Apparently I'm a Lance fan now? Why have I watched this so many times," a second added. While a third tweeted: "This is the lance that needs to be here every weekend."

"Really happy that Lance is having a good weekend, nice to see him smiling," a fourth tweeted. And another added: "Nice to see some personality from Stroll to be fair!"

Max Verstappen topped qualifying again, with Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris rounding out the top three of the grid. Lewis Hamilton could only manage fifth on the day, while Stroll beat Aston Martin teammate Alonso, ninth, for the first time in his career.

Alonso admitted: "I did a mistake, I went on the damp part of the circuit, I lost the car and then it was very costly because that gravel completely destroys the floor.

"It hurts even more because it was the out lap, I was not even pushing, so disappointed with my performance today. Hopefully, I can do a better Sunday."
