American rock band Kiss have performed in the North East for the final time.

Thousands of fans packed into the Utilita Arena on Tuesday night to watch the group on their farewell tour - End of the Road.

Kiss, who are known for their outlandish stage-wear and black and white face paint, have been performing on stage for 50 years.

They formed in 1973 and gained prominence due to their live performances, which featured fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits, and pyrotechnics.

They are best known for hits including crazy crazy nights, I was made for loving you and God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II.

Over the years, Kiss has gone through several line up changes with Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons remaining the only consistent members of the band.

During their "unmasked era" in the 1980s they began performing without stage make up and costumes but brought them back the following decade.

Kiss announced in September 2018 that, after 45 years of recording and performing, they would embark on their final tour.

The End of the Road tour started in January 2019 and will conclude in December 2023 in New York City, USA - where the band started.
