MORE WESH 2 NEWS. ALL RIGHT, STEWART, THANK. SAY SOMETHING. A MINISTER IN BREVARD COUNTY IS CALLING HIS COMMUNITY TO HELP WITH THE MURDER OF A 16 YEAR OLD SHOT WHILE STANDING IN HIS. THE FAMILY NOT READY TO SPEAK ON CAMERA JUST YET, BUT AS WELL. SHE’S BREVARD COUNTY BUREAU CHIEF. SCOTT HEIDLER TELLS US THE MINISTER WANTS MORE TO BE DONE. THIS YOUNG MAN LOST HIS LIFE AT AGE SIX IN THE PRIME HIS LIFE. MINISTER ALVIN MCCOY OF FLORIDA AVENUE CHURCH OF CHRIST IS CALLING ON HIS COMMUNITY TO HELP POLICE CAPTURE KOBIE KIRKLAND’S KILLERS. IF NOBODY SAYS ANYTHING, THIS TYPE OF VIOLENCE, THIS CRIME IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, WILL CONTINUE. 16 YEAR OLD KIRKLAND WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN MID-MAY ON CEDAR DRIVE. MELBOURNE POLICE. THE SHOOTER GOT AWAY IN A WHITE CAR. MCCOY SAYS THE UNSOLVED MURDER IS DEVASTATING TO THE FAMILY AND THEY NEED CLOSURE. TELLING WESH 2 SEVERAL MEMBERS OF HIS CONGREGATION KNOW AND ARE PRAYING FOR THE FAMILY AND HEAR OF A YOUNG MAN HIS LIFE HAS BEEN CUT DOWN. THIS YOUNG MAN COULD HAVE PERHAPS BEEN A LAWYER, A PILOT, TITIAN, A DOCTOR. YES. A POWERFUL YOUNG MAN. BUT HIS LIFE HAS NOW COME TO A CLOSE. MELBOURNE POLICE LOOKING FOR THE COMMUNITY’S. A Brevard County minister is calling on his community to help with the murder investigation of a 16-year-old young man who was shot while standing in the yard of his Melbourne home."This young man lost his life at age 16, in the prime of his life," said minister Alvin Mccoy of the Florida Avenue Church of Christ.The minister is calling on his community to help police capture Kobe Kirkland’s killers.RELATED: 16-year-old dies after shooting in Brevard County"If nobody says anything, this type of violence, this type of crime in our neighborhood will continue," said Minister McCoy. The 16-year-old was shot and killed in mid-May on Cedar Drive, and the Melbourne police say the shooter got away in a white car. Minister McCoy says this unsolved murder is devastating to the family, and they need closure and told WESH2 several members of his congregation know and are praying for the family. "Here's a young man, his life has been cut down. This young man could have perhaps been a lawyer, a politician, a doctor, a powerful and great young man, but his life has come to a close,” said Minister McCoy. Melbourne police are looking for the community’s help in this case.
